This is the first post on a blog that should have existed some time ago. I have been putting it off for too long, and it is time to take the plaster off.
What will be here
Three things, in order of likelihood.
Working notes from public health. Indicators, queries, prescribing-appropriateness criteria, data quality and audit. Things I end up building or rebuilding every week, and for which I almost never find a good, concise explanation anywhere else.
Product reflections on MediFlow. Architectural decisions, trade-offs and why I chose one thing instead of another. No marketing. The most useful thing I can do with a blog is explain honestly why a choice makes sense, even when someone could quite reasonably choose differently.
More scattered pieces. Things I read, tools I use and the occasional technical digression. Nothing compulsory, no fixed schedule.
What will not be here
No tracking cookies, no analytics, no resources loaded from third parties, no newsletter with a double opt-in that then ends up in spam. If you want to follow along, there is the RSS feed. It still works perfectly well in 2026.
A note on style
I try to keep each post under a thousand words. When I need to be longer, I split it into parts. No baroque formatting, no grocery-list bullet points, no emoji at the start of a paragraph. Dry English, a little technical language where it helps, always explained the first time.
